The National Technical University of Athens opened its workshops for three days to the public

More than 5,500 visitors—mostly students—attended the event. "Our goal is to inspire young people who dream of studying at NTUA by immersing them in our learning spaces and fostering interaction with our professors," said Rector Ioannis Chatzigeorgiou

From March 12-14, 2025, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) hosted the largest public visit ever held at a Greek university. All nine faculties of the institution participated, welcoming a total of over 4,500 visitors.

During this three-day event, Greece’s largest and oldest technological institution opened its gates to elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as private individuals, demonstrating that it remains a vibrant, welcoming, public, and open space that belongs to all Greek citizens.

As part of NTUA’s new “Open Labs” initiative—an event quickly evolving into an annual tradition—academic staff, researchers, and administrative personnel shared their research work with the public. A total of 43 out of NTUA’s 160 officially recognized laboratories showcased their projects, offering a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into cutting-edge scientific advancements.

A Celebration of Science and Innovation

Visitors who took part in this educational celebration at the NTUA campus had the opportunity to witness earthquake simulations, port model testing, aerodynamic experiments in wind tunnels, next-generation vehicle prototypes, high-voltage systems, innovative materials-based constructions, nanomaterial synthesis techniques, remote sensing systems, electron microanalysis methods, ship towing tests, quantum computing demonstrations, and much more.

Through this celebration of knowledge and discovery, NTUA highlighted its excellence and mission in engineering and technology.
