How the shocking car accident in Magnesia happened: 25-year-old “thrown” from vehicle – passing ambulance saves parents

A Volos EKAV ambulance, which happened to be transporting a patient to Larissa, was coincidentally at the scene as the crash unfolded right before the crew’s eyes – The three-member family was traveling to Northern Greece for Easter

Newsroom April 17 09:33

Heart-wrenching details have emerged regarding a fatal car accident that claimed the life of 25-year-old A.M. on Holy Thursday afternoon, just outside Stefanovikeio in the region of Magnesia.

The car, which ended up a mangled wreck, was carrying a family of three. The parents and their daughter had departed from Athens, where they reside, heading to Northern Greece to spend the Easter holidays with relatives, according to taxydromos.gr. Sadly, their journey came to a tragic end on the national highway.

The vehicle, bearing Athenian license plates, was traveling in the direction of Thessaloniki when, just past Stefanovikeio near the Megalo Monastiri junction, it veered off course for reasons still unknown.

The car crashed into an embankment and overturned. The 25-year-old, who was sitting in the back seat, was reportedly ejected through a window and landed violently on the asphalt, where she died instantly.

Passing Ambulance Saves the Parents

In a tragic twist of fate, an EKAV ambulance from Volos, en route to Larissa with a patient, happened to be passing by at the exact moment of the accident — it unfolded right in front of the ambulance crew, according to reports. The paramedics stopped immediately to offer first aid, as reported by thenewspaper.gr. Unfortunately, it was already too late for the young woman.

Additional ambulances, firefighters, and traffic police quickly arrived on the scene. The 60-year-old driver of the car — the victim’s father — was in a state of shock, while her 55-year-old mother, who was in the front passenger seat, suffered light injuries to her fingers and was also emotionally shaken, according to magnesianews.gr.

Both parents and their late daughter were transported to Volos General Hospital.

The Traffic Police Department of New Magnesia is conducting a preliminary investigation into the accident.
