581 new vehicles for the Fire Brigade, ELAS, the Coast Guard and the Ministry of National Defence: Support through the “AIGIS” programme

The new vehicles will significantly enhance the firefighting, civil protection, rescue, health care and general response capabilities of security forces.

Contracts for the acquisition of 581 vehicles to join the fleets of the Fire Brigade, the Coast Guard, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Hellenic Police have been signed by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protectio,n Giannis Kefalogiannis, in the context of the implementation of the “AEGIS” programme.

The new vehicles will significantly enhance the firefighting, civil protection, rescue, health care and general response capabilities of the security forces.

The Fire Brigade will receive 59 water trucks of three different types: four-wheel drive vehicles with a water capacity of 350 litres, urban vehicles with a capacity of 1,000 litres and four-wheel drive vehicles with an elongated cab that can each carry 6,000 litres of water.

The Coast Guard will be reinforced with 462 vehicles, primarily 431 motorcycles. Contracts also include the supply of material and personnel transport vans, buses, roadside assistance vehicles and a crane truck.

The Ministry of National Defence will be delivered 37 ambulances – mobile pre-hospital care units and eight buses. Finally, the purchase of 15 mini-buses with a length of 6 to 7.5 meters is planned for the operational needs of the Hellenic Police.
