Defense and migration were at the heart of Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with Georgia Meloni at Villa Pampili in Rome, ahead of the European Council, which will also discuss the major European challenges of the coming period.

At the moment, the Greek Prime Minister and his Italian counterpart are making joint statements, preceded by the signing of cooperation protocols between ministers of the two countries.

Earlier, the Plenary of the High Cooperation Council between Greece and Italy met.

In Italy, the Prime Minister is accompanied by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, Minister of Citizen Protection Michael Chrysochoidis, Minister of Development Takis Theodorikako, and Minister of Rural Development Kostas Tsiaras, Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, Climate Crisis & Civil Protection Yannis Kefalogiannis, as well as the Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantinos Kyranakis and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikos Tsafos.
