The Palestinian Ambassador to the UN Security Council cried over the situation in Gaza – “I have grandchildren”

Riyad Mansour could not bear it when he started talking about the images of "mothers hugging their lifeless bodies, stroking their hair, talking to them, apologising to them"

Newsroom May 29 01:30

A dramatic call to stop the genocide targeting Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip was made by Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour while addressing the UN Security Council.

And when he started talking about the images of “mothers hugging their lifeless bodies, stroking their hair, talking to them, apologizing to them,” Mansour couldn’t stand it and burst into tears, telling the chairman, “I have grandchildren too. I know what they mean to their families, and to see the situation of the Palestinians without having the heart to do something is beyond the endurance of any normal human being.”

“It’s outrageous. How many more do you want?” the Palestinian diplomat said angrily of the UN Security Council‘s “inaction” while the Palestinians “have been deprived of water, food, medicine for so long and are hanging on by a thread.”

Mansour accused Israel of trying to create the illusion that it is allowing aid to enter while “life in Gaza is impossible”. “If Israel wanted aid to enter, it would open the crossings and allow the immediate and full entry of humanitarian aid, in coordination with the UN, including UNRWA (the UN agency for Palestinian refugees),” Mansour said.

“Israel’s real concern is how to get rid of the Palestinians by killing them, starving them, and destroying others so that they have no choice but to leave if they want to live.”

“I assure you that we are rooted in Palestine more than the olives, the Roman olives that are rooted in Palestine. We will never leave. We will not wither away. We will stay in our homeland. Do something. Stop this crime against the Palestinian people, this genocide,” the Palestinian diplomat concluded.
