Newsroom June 2 11:29

The what happened at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Sunday night before, during and after the second final between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos for the Basket League.

According to reports, the message being sent out by the government is one of “zero tolerance.”

According to the same information, the government has formed the impression that what happened is a matter of agents, not fans of the two teams.

In this context, as protothema.gr is informed, the government is preparing for interventions “guided” by the model applied in football.

On the issue, consultations are underway between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, and Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis. Announcements are expected at noon from the government spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis, during the briefing of political editors.

Chrysochoidis: At the Peace and Friendship Stadium, we had punishable behaviour of agents, no one is above the law

There are no law enforcement officers above the law.

In what happened at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Sunday night with Dimitris Giannakopoulos as the protagonist, Michalis Chrysochoidis was quoted earlier today by the Minister of Civil Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis.

As he told SKAI, “”Yesterday we had a game in the Peace and Friendship Stadium that, as far as order in the stadium is concerned, turned out well. We had punishable behaviour of agents, no one is above the law.”

He also referred to the attitude of the police force, saying that “I am investigating through the exercise of my legal duties whether the police are doing their job well.”

“We will see if measures have been taken at all levels,” added Chrysochoidis, who, while expressing “satisfaction because such a game ended in order,” added that “as far as the management of persons is concerned, we will investigate.”

Is Olympiacos Moving to Cyprus

Asked if there is a possibility that the next Olympiacos-Panathinaikos game could be played behind closed doors, the Minister of Civil Protection replied, “The sports governing bodies must be convened. The police will do what is necessary, they will take the necessary measures.”

As he commented, “I see a lot of tension about the games, we have fanaticism from people, some of whom I know, and I wonder what is going on. In the last year, we have not had incidents and criminal organizations that disgraced football and Greece.”
