Trump does not rule out a strike on Iran: They have a lot of problems and want to negotiate

Maybe I will, maybe I won't, the US president said

Newsroom June 18 05:32

U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking outside the White House, did not rule out the possibility of a military strike on Iran. “I might do it, I might not,” he remarked in his typical style, adding, “No one knows what I’m going to do. What I can say is that Iran has a lot of problems and wants to negotiate.”

Trump made brief comments to the White House press pool, initially focusing on the state of the U.S. economy, interest rates, and public debt. However, when asked about potential U.S. involvement in Iran, he avoided giving a direct answer.

The president reiterated a stance he has expressed several times in recent days: that Tehran should have been more willing to negotiate before Israel’s attack.

He also revealed that Iranian negotiators had “hinted they might come to the White House” for talks, though he described the effort as “difficult,” saying, “It’s probably too late for discussions.” He noted, “There’s a big difference between the current situation and what it was a week ago.”

Trump described Iran as completely defenseless, lacking any air defense system. He added he wasn’t sure how long the conflict would last, emphasizing that Iran’s air defenses had been decimated.

“Two simple words: unconditional surrender,” he said pointedly. “I’m tired.”
