Trump and Erdogan met in The Hague – Discussed $100 billion deals

The meeting between the two presidents lasted about 45 minutes – This was their first one-on-one meeting since Trump began his second term in January

U.S. President Donald Trump met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in The Hague on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.

According to a statement from the Turkish presidency’s communications office, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan “expressed his satisfaction with the ceasefire achieved between Israel and Iran thanks to President Trump’s efforts, wished for it to be permanent, and stressed the importance of dialogue to end as soon as possible the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and to peacefully resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine.”

During the meeting, the Turkish president also stated that “the two countries have broad potential in various fields, especially in energy and investments, and that advancing cooperation particularly in the defense industry sector will help achieve the goal of $100 billion in total bilateral trade volume.”

The Turkish presidency’s statement also noted that “the two leaders, as top NATO allies, emphasized the importance of steps that need to be taken to strengthen the Alliance’s deterrence capability.”

Bilateral, regional, and international issues were discussed during the meeting.

The meeting between the two presidents began at 23:30 Greek time (22:30 Dutch time) yesterday (June 24th) and lasted about 45 minutes. This was their first one-on-one meeting since Donald Trump began his second term in January.

The atmosphere was warm between the two leaders even during the NATO Summit group photo.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, in The Hague, where he is attending the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government.

During the meeting, Turkey-U.S. bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues, were discussed.

The two leaders, as top NATO allies, stressed the importance of steps needed to strengthen the Alliance’s deterrence capability.
