Netanyahu at the White House for the meeting with Trump – Protests against his visit to the US

The Israeli prime minister and the US president are expected to discuss the war in Gaza, Syria and Iran's nuclear programme

Newsroom July 8 08:50

The White House is hosting Benjamin Netanyahu for his dinner with US President Donald Trump. The Israeli prime minister and the US president are expected to discuss the war in Gaza, a deal with Syria and Iran’s nuclear program.

No formal press conference is scheduled between the two leaders.

An Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday that Netanyahu will ask Trump for the “green light” to take action against any Iranian activity related to Tehran’s reconstruction of its nuclear program.

The prime minister of Israel will also meet with US House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday. It is Netanyahu’s only publicly confirmed meeting for tomorrow, although he is also expected to meet with US Vice President J.D. Vance and other congressional leaders.

Before he met with Trump at the White House, Netanyahu was at Blair House, the US president’s historic guest house in Washington, D.C., and spoke with US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Whitcoff and then with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Netanyahu was accompanied by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer.
