Violent incidents outside an Essex hotel hosting illegal immigrants – 8 police officers injured, see video

In the last few days, many mobilisations have been organised in this area, after a 38-year-old illegal immigrant was accused of three sexual assaults

Newsroom July 19 01:57

Police in a town on the outskirts of London remain on alert after disorder occurred Thursday night outside a hotel where illegal immigrants are staying.

Eight police officers were injured and three vehicles were damaged in the hour-long violent incidents in the city of Epping in southeast England.

According to police, the clashes broke out near a hotel known to host illegal immigrant. In recent days, several protests have been organized in this area after a 38-year-old illegal immigrant was accused of three sexual assaults.

Police in Essex, where Epping falls, attributed the incidents to people “coming from other areas”. Videos urging people to come down to the demonstration were going viral online.

“We assembled a team of police officers who were tasked with analyzing the footage from security and traffic cameras to identify those responsible,” said a local police spokesman, Stuart Hooper. “Those involved can expect that we will be knocking on their door,” he added.

Videos posted on social media sites show hooded protesters hurling eggs and other objects, climbing into police vans and attacking law enforcement.

Police warned they would remain vigilant throughout the weekend to prevent any further incidents. It reminded that it supports the right to peaceful demonstration but will not tolerate “violence and vandalism.”

The situation is reminiscent of the riots last summer following the murder of three young girls by a man from Rwandan in Southport in northwest England. Protesters then attacked hotels where illegal immigrants were staying in several cities, attempting to set fire to one of them in the town of Rotherham.
