Twist in the Palaio Faliro mystery: The little dead girl was around 4 years old and of Asian descent

Authorities suspect foul play as no one has come forward to claim the child, found in an swimsuit and believed to be around 4 years old

Newsroom July 29 08:45

New developments have emerged in the chilling case of the little girl found dead in the sea off Palaio Faliro a few days ago. Authorities now estimate that the child was around 4 years old—older than initially believed—and, based on her physical features, she appears to be of Asian descent, rather than North African as first suspected.

The girl remains unidentified and unclaimed, and the Greek police (ELAS) are intensifying their efforts to uncover what happened. Investigators are scrutinizing every possible clue, no matter how small, in hopes of piecing together the story and discovering both the child’s identity and the circumstances that led to her death. It’s not just a case of drowning—what is deeply troubling is that no one has come forward to report a missing child matching her description.

When the body was discovered, the girl was wearing a distinctive, high-quality one-piece swimsuit, long-sleeved and similar to the one shown in the police-released image. This detail is considered a key lead in the investigation and is being carefully examined by the team of officers assigned exclusively to the case.

The fact that no missing child report has been filed is raising serious concerns among authorities and strengthens the suspicion of foul play. As investigators note: why wouldn’t someone report a child missing—especially a parent or guardian—unless they had something to hide?
