Liver transplant completed for 15-year-old Dimitris: “Everything went well”

The surgery lasted about 8.5 hours - The teenager was transferred to a hospital unit

Newsroom July 30 06:13

The messages from Turin are optimistic after the completion of liver transplantation to 15-year-old Dimitris from Metsovo, who suffered heat stroke a few days ago.

“Everything went well,” said in his first statements to thebest.gr the head of the Children‘s ICU of the Hospital in Rio, Andreas Eliades.

After the surgery, which lasted about 8.5 hours, everything seemed to have gone well, and the teenager was transferred to a unit of the hospital.

The Chronicle

It may be recalled that the minor, last Friday, had been out for a walk in Haliki Aspropotamos when he suddenly felt unwell and collapsed, having suffered severe heat stroke coupled with the severe anhidrosis disorder with which he has been diagnosed.

After his hospitalization in the hospital of Ioannina and then in the ICU of the University Hospital of Patras, he was sent to Italy last Monday morning to undergo a liver transplant, having developed acute liver failure.
