Increased concentrations of African dust in the country – Watch video of the cloudy veil covering Athens

According to the weather forecast and tomorrow the concentrations of African dust will remain slightly increased

Newsroom September 12 04:29

The familiar, golden-colored “veil” in the atmosphere has been facing the country’s citizens since Friday morning due to the concentrations of African dust that, according to the Athens National Observatory, are increasing these days.

“The atmospheric circulation favors the transport of African dust towards our country. The concentrations are not very large, but they become visible as a veil, giving dull colors to the atmosphere. Most of the dust will continue over the next two days, but will subside by the beginning of next week,” notes Kostas Lagovardos, meteorologist and director of research at the National Observatory of Athens.

The weather tomorrow

According to meteo.gr, Good weather conditions will prevail across the country on Saturday, September 13, with only a few local clouds. During the midday hours, clouds in the mountainous mainland will increase, giving a few showers. African dust concentrations will remain slightly elevated.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from 12 to 28 degrees, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 15 to 29-31 degrees, in Thessaly from 16 to 31-33 degrees, in Epirus from 16 to 32-34 degrees, in Eastern Sterea and Evia from 17 to 30-32 degrees, in the rest of the mainland from 17 to 34-36 and locally 37 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 18 to 30-32 degrees, in the Aegean islands and in Crete from 17 to 29-31 degrees, while locally in the East Aegean islands the maximum will reach 33 degrees Celsius.
