Inmate jailed for drugs found trafficking cocaine and cannabis inside Stavraki Prison, Ioannina

He had hidden dozens of packets in a common area of the prison

An inmate serving time for drug-related offenses was allegedly distributing cocaine and raw cannabis inside the Stavraki Prison in Ioannina, having concealed dozens of improvised packages in a shared area of the facility.

The stash was discovered during a search carried out by prison staff. According to reports, the inmate had hidden numerous improvised drug packages in a communal spot within the prison.

Specifically, authorities located and seized 43 packages of cocaine, with a total weight of 46.7 grams, and 82 packages of raw cannabis, weighing 44.52 grams.

The Ioannina Criminal Investigation and Drug Enforcement Unit was immediately notified, and the inmate was arrested.

The man, a Greek national, is now facing charges of possession and trafficking of narcotics. Following the case file prepared against him by the Ioannina Criminal Investigation and Drug Enforcement Unit, he will be brought before the Ioannina Prosecutor’s Office.
