The Hellenic National Public Health Organization (EODY) reported eight new cases of West Nile virus infection and two deaths during the last week in Greece.

  • 15 patients had mild symptoms or no CNS involvement.

In addition, two imported cases were recorded. These patients were infected abroad (one in Serbia, one in Italy) and are not included in the detailed analysis.

So far, seven people over 65 years old with CNS complications have died. The median age of those who died was 80 years (range: 66–86).
