Weather: Cool weekend with locally gusty north winds in the Aegean Sea

It felt like winter yesterday in Nevrokopi, where temperatures dropped below 2°C – The meltemi winds are expected to ease tomorrow

This weekend will bring autumn-like temperatures, with northerly winds remaining strong today and locally in the Aegean reaching up to force 8 on the Beaufort scale. However, starting tomorrow, the meltemia will gradually weaken, allowing temperatures to rise slightly.

The cool spell began on Thursday, while yesterday in Nevrokopi the thermometer dipped below 2°C. According to meteorologists, the first heavy rains of September are expected by the end of the month.

Low morning temperatures in the north on Friday, September 19
Locally low minimum temperatures were recorded in northern regions early Friday morning, particularly in parts of Macedonia. According to the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr automatic weather station network, the lowest temperature was recorded at the Nevrokopi station with 1.7°C.
