Robbie Williams at the Kallimarmaro: The songs chosen by the “pop scoundrel,” the audience show, and… Haido

For two hours and fifteen minutes, this charismatic performer gave it his all—singing everything from Sinatra to Village People—while also staging a personal performance with a lady from Thessaloniki, serenading her up close and personal

Newsroom October 3 09:08

The sky over the Kallimarmaro Stadium (Panathenaic Stadium) was dark around 8 p.m., but that was the last thing on anyone’s mind as the crowd gathered to enjoy Robbie Williams in the penultimate concert of his European tour.

An hour before the show, the reporter had a brief meeting with the star who, in August 2003, pulled a record-breaking 390,000 people over three days to Knebworth, earning a Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling world tour.

Now 51 years old, the dandy-scoundrel of pop, who has nothing left to prove, shared how happy he was to be back in Athens, performing in the iconic stadium he had photographed upon his early afternoon arrival.

The 32,000 spectators—some hesitant to attend due to rain—welcomed him with cheers and deafening applause at 9 p.m., and he rewarded them with a superb, high-energy music and dance spectacle.

The Show and the Special Dedication

With a finely tuned band, the stadium came alive by the second song, the fan-favorite “Let Me Entertain You.” Robbie roamed the stage with his trademark flair.

He repeatedly thanked the Greek audience for their love over the years, joking and interacting with the crowd—one moment involving a man named Nikos and a prank involving an ex-lover, with his face flashing on the big screens, became unforgettable.

True to his word from five months earlier, he performed “Me and My Monkey” exclusively for his Greek fans—a song he no longer includes in his international setlist. The crowd sang the chorus passionately.

He even apologized for not performing it in 2023, and told the audience that Greeks are the only ones who love that song, something that deeply moved him.

Not for Everyone, but Everything for His Fans

Yes, a few complained afterward that they were bored—but if you’re not a Robbie fan, maybe his unique style just isn’t for you. His decades-long mentality is what made him a global star, not just a local celebrity.

The Mashup and… Haido

Beyond his own hits, Robbie sang songs by Bon Jovi, Metallica (the intro to “Enter Sandman” blew the crowd away), and even Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”

At one point, he said:

“If Michael was the King of Pop, I don’t need that title—because I’m the King of Entertainment.”

He introduced his band through a mashup medley that included the unforgettable “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People.

  • And of course, the special moment with Haido, a lady from Thessaloniki

He brought Haido on stage and serenaded her with “She’s the One.” Before singing, they had a charming dialogue—her husband was mentioned.

“Kostas, if you’re listening,” Robbie joked,
“Right now, I’m with your wife—and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

This playful, flirtatious “pop charmer” closed the show dressed in white, performing “Angels” to an audience that had seen him for the third time in ten years—and loved every second.
