The Russian President expressed his hope that the initiatives of the President of the United States will be implemented in practice

Newsroom October 9 06:04

Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken a position on the nascent ceasefire agreement in Gaza, expressing hope that the talks will lead to a result.

Speaking at a summit held today in Tajikistan, Putin said Russia wants to see the agreement successfully implemented and is ready to support any effort that will help end the bloodshed in the region, according to Reuters.

“We really hope that these initiatives of the president of the United States will be put into practice,” the Russian president said.

Earlier today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow supports the first phase of the Gaza deal between Israel and Hamas.

This comes as Moscow’s war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, shows no signs of abating.

Russia is known to be a strong ally of Iran, which was bombed by Israel in June this year.
