Greece honored country at the “Night of Museums” event at the Wine Museum Sierre – Valais

Santo wines presented the “SANTORINI” Terroir through the thematic exhibition “Winemaking as Art in Santorini”

Newsroom November 21 12:22

Greece was the distinguished guest of honor at the “Night of Museums 2025” event hosted by the Wine Museum Sierre – Valais, where Santo Wines (Union of Theraean Product Cooperatives) made a highly successful appearance. The event was co-organized by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Greek Embassy in Bern and the Wine Museum Sierre – Valais, with significant support from the Municipality of Thira, within the framework of the initiative “Santorini 2025: Year of Promotion and Support of Authenticity.”

This evening marked the pinnacle of Santorini’s presence at the international exhibition of the oldest traditional winemaking techniques, “Destination Vin” (March 8 – November 30, 2025). Santorini participated as the sole Greek wine-producing region, exclusively represented by Santo Wines. The programming and coordination of the event were led by Ms. Niki Stefanidou, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office, Ms. Delphine Niederberger, Director of the Museum, and with the valuable contribution of the museum’s exhibition curator, Samuel Hubert. Representatives of Santo Wines, including the Chairman of the Board, Markos Kafouros, and General Manager, Matthaios Dimopoulos, actively engaged in the presentation and promotion of the products.

Over 150 visitors, including industry professionals and aficionados of wine and culture, explored the exhibition before converging at the Greek pavilion. There, the Santo Wines team showcased the emblematic PDO Santorini wines, accompanied by traditional delicacies featuring PDO Santorini cherry tomatoes, Santorini capers, and Santo Roots olive oil.

The Santo Wines presence was further enriched with audiovisual material, informative panels, and an interactive handmade “kouloura” application, offering visitors an immersive experience into the island’s viticulture and winemaking traditions.

Closing Remarks
The promotional materials by Santo Wines and the Municipality of Thira will remain on display until the exhibition’s conclusion on November 30, continuing to elevate Santorini as a beacon of Greek winemaking and premium tourism.

“The event had a substantial commercial impact, facilitating professional meetings with key importers and opening new avenues for collaboration in the Central European market. Santo Wines’ offerings, emblematic of Santorini, distinguished themselves through their character and quality, creating the impressions that underpinned the evening’s success. The recognition by the discerning Swiss market—renowned for its familiarity with top-tier wines—of Santorini’s wine excellence unequivocally affirms their place among the world’s finest quality wines.
