All points with agricultural blockades after the decision to escalate – What’s next for the weekend

Where strong agricultural blockades remain - Closure of bypasses begins at noon - Tolls open in some areas at the weekend

Newsroom December 19 05:37

Since yesterday’s nationwide meeting of the blockades in Serres did not result in a meeting with the government, but instead it was decided to escalate ahead of the holidays, farmers and cattle breeders remain in their blockades and are constantly reinforcing them, unfolding new forms of action from today.

Today at noon, symbolic blockades on bypass roads will begin. It is clarified that those who were heading to Larissa until 14:00 could pass, to go to the trial of Tempi.

At the same time, it was decided to open toll roads for a few hours on the weekend, so that people could pass through for free. From Tuesday, when many people will start leaving for the villages for their holidays, the farmers and cattle breeders decided to clear the roads, specifying, however, that they will remain to the right and left of the roadway.

The bypass roads that will be closed, as well as the toll roads they will attempt to open, are not yet fully known – except in some cases – and will depend on the decisions and dynamics of each blockade. Today at noon, a series of assemblies are scheduled in large blockades, for example in Nikaia, in order to transfer the discussion and decisions of the nationwide meeting and decide on the next steps.

Farmers have already proceeded with the first blockade of a side road on the Athens – Thessaloniki section, resulting in congestion on the Ritsona bypass. In particular, farmers from the blockade in Bralos blocked the bypass road at 175 km leading from Lamia to Thebes and Livadia.

The places with the strongest blockades
-In Thessaly, the blockades in Nikaia Larissa, Karditsa and Trikala on the PATHE, E-65 and the toll of Loggos, respectively, remain

– The producers are blocking the road to Thessaloniki, from 12 noon until 23 December, at the Malgara blockade on the Thessaloniki-Athens highway, while the opposite direction remains closed for the 19th day. For today, the producers at the site have decided to allow passage to lawyers and witnesses participating in the Tempi trial.

-A symbolic blockade lasting one hour, starting at one o’clock in the afternoon, is also being carried out today by producers at the junction of Dervenio, at the junction of the old Thessaloniki-Kavala highway with other important roads. By decision of a general meeting, the participants decided at the weekend, during the hours from 12 noon and for three hours, to go to the Oraiokastro toll on the outer ring road of Thessaloniki. There they will temporarily raise the bars and distribute local products, such as nuts and honey, to passers-by.

-The participants of the blockade of Chalkidona will continue to blockade for two hours, from 17.00, on both streams on the old National Road Thessaloniki – Edessa.

-Tractors and agricultural vehicles are lined up at the “Green Lanterns”

-Meanwhile, the blockade set up on the initiative of beekeepers and farmers in the prefecture of Halkidiki, at the traffic lights of Nikiti, in Sithonia, continues to be reinforced.

-Hour-long blockades continue today at the customs offices of Promachonas and Exochi, on the Greek border with Bulgaria, as well as at Evzoni and Niki, on the border with North Macedonia.

-The producers will blockade the junction of Bara Siatista, on the Egnatia Road, for two hours from 14.00 today for all trucks, while for this period of time they will also close the bypass roads. At the same time, they have decided that the side tolls will remain open throughout, so that drivers can pass freely without paying tolls.

-Farmers, livestock farmers and beekeepers are moving to a three-hour blockade at the Philotas junction, on the Kozani – Florina vertical axis of the Pan-European Axis X. Taxi owners will also participate in today’s mobilization with their vehicles.

-The producers are proceeding today to a symbolic blockade of the bypass roads at the junction of Kouloura, lasting one hour, until 1:30 pm, distributing jars of peach compote. The restriction of traffic on the bypass roads makes it difficult to pass through to Veroia, especially because of the agricultural blockade at the Nseliou junction in Imathia, where the Egnatia Odos road to the city remains closed indefinitely. Producers at the Nseliou junction are keeping a passage open exclusively for emergency vehicles.

-Farmers’ blockades also remain in place at the Gipsochori junction of Pella on the Thessaloniki-Edessa highway, while farmers from Vegoritida and Kaimaktsalan lined up their tractors at the “Chain” position at the junction of Drosia, Pella.

The producers of Skydra continue to mobilize, farmers from the municipality of Almopia set up a blockade at the entrance of Aridaia and their Edessa colleagues are firmly on the ring road, at the point “Lanterns”. According to the decision of their general assemblies, they will go on a joint march today to the customs office of Skydra and will proceed to its symbolic blockade for two hours from 17.00.

In Pieria, farmers of Aigini have set up a blockade at the entrance to the small town, proceeding to blockades on the old National Road Thessaloniki – Katerini. At the Variko junction, there are producers from the municipality of Dion – Olympus, with their tractors and agricultural vehicles, carrying out symbolic mobilizations every day.

-Three blockades have been set up in the prefecture of Kavala: in Chrysoupoli, at the Ancient Theatre of Philippi and at the junction of Mousthenis on the Egnatia Odos. For today, the participants of the blockade at the Mousthenis junction are proceeding with a symbolic blockade of the point from 4 pm and for at least one hour. In the meantime, they leave open the possibility that the producers of the blockade at the Ancient Theatre of Philippi may be transferred to another hub.

-The indefinite blockade remains in force at the Kerdyllia junction, on the Egnatia Road (Kerdyllia – Serres on both traffic streams), by farmers and livestock farmers of the prefecture of Serres. The traffic and passage at the point is now only possible from the bypass roads for all vehicles and trucks.

-Farmers are still carrying out symbolic blockades, who have set up their blockade at the Kokkinogeia-Prosotsani intersection, which is a central point of connection of the settlements of the region and leads to the Greek-Bulgarian border, to the Exaplatanos pass and to the city of Drama.

-Farmers remain at the blockades in Atalanti, as well as at the two blockades in Boeotia, in Kastro and in Thebes.

-Farmers and livestock farmers of Chania remain at the blockade in Megala Chorafia

-In Etoloakarnania, the blockade of Angelokastro on the Ionian Road remains

-The blockade at the junction of Vonitsa with Lefkada remains in place

-A blockade has also been set up at the bridge of Nafpaktos with Dorida.
