The knitted Christmas village of Greece, where everything is embroidered

The knitted village hosts nativity scenes, Santa Claus figures and a number of original artistic exhibits, all handmade

Newsroom December 25 05:22

A special Christmas scene has been set in Chios, where an impressive village made entirely of knitted fabrics creates fairy-tale images and attracts the interest of young and old alike. The centerpiece is dominated by a Christmas tree 10 meters tall, made from 3,500 knitted square patterns, while the village’s total exhibits exceed thirty.

The initiative began five years ago and has been evolving ever since, as each holiday season is enriched with new creations. For this year’s event, 16 women worked on knitting the pieces, while some 25 people participated in lighting and painting, contributing to the overall aesthetics of the space.

The knitted village is home to nativity scenes, Santa Claus figures, and a host of original art exhibits, all handmade, capturing the care, creativity, and volunteer spirit of the local community. The action is implemented with the support of the Municipality of Chios and the Thymiana Cultural Club of Chios, offering visitors a special and warm festive experience.
