Giorgos Papadakis dies at 74 after suffering a heart attack

The veteran Greek journalist was rushed to Laiko Hospital, where doctors attempted resuscitation

Giorgos Papadakis passed away on Sunday at the age of 74 after suffering a severe heart attack.

According to information, Papadakis was transferred to Laiko Hospital in Athens unconscious. Doctors made extensive efforts to revive him, but they were unable to save his life.

Emergency Transfer to Hospital

The well-known journalist collapsed earlier today after experiencing a major cardiac event. Emergency services transported him immediately to hospital, where medical staff initiated resuscitation procedures.

Despite their efforts, Giorgos Papadakis died shortly afterward.

Who Was Giorgos Papadakis

Giorgos Papadakis was born on February 4, 1951, in Chalandri, and had family roots in Crete. He built a long and influential career in Greek journalism, both in television and print media.

He first appeared on television in the 1980s on the ERT program “Treis ston Aera” (“Three on Air”), alongside Semina Digeni and Nasos Athanasiou.

A Landmark Career in Morning Television

From 1992 to 2011, Papadakis presented “Kalimera Ellada” (“Good Morning Greece”), the first morning news program in Greek television history.

Between 2011 and 2015, he hosted ANT1’s morning news show “Proino ANT1”. In September 2015, the program returned to its original title, “Kalimera Ellada”, at his personal request.
