US President Donald Trump said that Iran is “looking toward freedom, perhaps like never before,” emphasizing that the United States is ready to help, in a post on the social media platform Truth Social.

According to sources from the Wall Street Journal cited by Clashreport, officials in the Trump administration have held preliminary discussions about how an attack against Iran could be carried out, should this be deemed necessary to enforce Trump’s warnings.

According to one official, the options discussed include a large-scale airstrike on multiple Iranian military targets.

Another official said, however, that there is no consensus on the course of action to be followed and that so far no military equipment or personnel have been moved to prepare for an attack.

Trump’s message about American assistance to Iranians was sent at a time when Iranian authorities are hardening their stance toward the largest anti-government protests in recent years.

The Revolutionary Guards attributed the unrest to “terrorist groups” and stated that safeguarding the regime is a “red line.” At the same time, authorities accuse the United States and Israel of instigating the unrest, and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards intelligence service announced that it had arrested a foreign national suspected of carrying out espionage on behalf of Israel.

Meanwhile, reports of new incidents and clashes are being recorded in many parts of the country, although the extensive internet blackout is making it difficult to obtain a full picture of the situation.
