Lufthansa’s message to the Hellenic Police about 16-year-old Laura: “She traveled alone to Germany; we have no further information”

Authorities contacted the airline five times before it finally responded regarding the fate of the minor who has gone missing from Patras

Newsroom February 3 04:08

Lufthansa may have confirmed to the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) that 16-year-old Laura traveled from Athens to Germany; however, five separate requests from the Greek authorities were required before the airline provided this confirmation.

According to information from protothema.gr, the authorities repeatedly requested information about the fate of the 16-year-old from Patras before the German airline replied that the minor had indeed traveled from Greece with one of their tickets.

In the message published by protothema.gr, Lufthansa appears to reply briefly to EL.AS., stating: “Laura traveled alone on flight LH1283 on January 8, 2026. We have no further information. Kind regards.”

This was, of course, a formal confirmation, as EL.AS. officials had been convinced for days that the 16-year-old had traveled to Germany.

As also stated by the EL.AS. spokesperson, Konstantia Dimoglidou, 16-year-old Laura flew to Germany from the very first moment of her disappearance.

At the same time, speaking to ERTnews, she expressed her dissatisfaction with the fact that the airline with which the minor traveled did not inform the authorities in a timely manner.

“This is something that could have been made known to us from the very first hours,” she said characteristically on the program “Syndeseis,” referring to the fact that the 16-year-old purchased a ticket and flew to Frankfurt on the same day she went missing.

Although, as she clarified, there was no prosecutorial order, she emphasized that the police had the parents’ consent to request information from airlines.

Meanwhile, she noted that the airline’s lack of cooperation with the Greek authorities did not hinder the investigation, which from the outset had been moving in this direction, despite conflicting testimonies placing the girl in various areas of Athens.

“The German authorities have been informed about the disappearance of the child and that she is being sought by her parents,” Ms. Dimoglidou noted, emphasizing that EL.AS. can no longer intervene in how the police there conduct their investigation.
