Iran is ready to accept “any verification” of its nuclear program and is not seeking to acquire a nuclear weapon, the country’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, said on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

The anniversary events took place amid heightened tensions, against the backdrop of military threats from the United States and the resumption of talks between Tehran and Washington on the nuclear issue.

“We are not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons. We have stated this repeatedly and we are ready for any verification,” Pezeshkian said, stressing that Tehran’s position remains firm.

Speaking at Azadi Square in the capital, the Iranian president emphasized that his country “will not bow to excessive demands” following the restart of contacts with the United States.

“Our country, Iran, will not yield to their excessive demands,” he said. “Our Iran will not retreat in the face of aggression, but we continue dialogue with all our strength with neighboring countries, in order to establish peace and calm in the region.”
