The police, especially the Traffic Police, are on high alert ahead of today’s nationwide farmers’ protest scheduled for 16:00 at Syntagma Square.
Shortly before 11:30, the first tractors appeared at the Afidnes tolls.
The tractors, along with buses carrying farmers, will later move toward the city center via Kifisos Avenue and Athinon Avenue.
Earlier in the morning, shortly after 6:00, farmers from Crete arrived at the port of Piraeus.
How the protesters will move and ELAS measures
For security reasons and to ensure that the mobilizations proceed smoothly with minimal impact on the city, disinfection stations for tractors have been installed at the entrances to Athens.
Specifically, ELAS has set up two disinfection stations for sheep pox, as a precaution and in coordination with the farmers, at the Afidnes and Elefsina tolls. All tractors coming for the Syntagma rally are expected to pass through these stations, with arrival times around 15:00.
ELAS officials noted that there is ongoing and effective communication and cooperation with the farmers’ leaders. After disinfection, the tractors will move under police escort from the Attica gates via Kifisos Avenue, following this route: Athinon Avenue, Omonia, then opposite direction along Panepistimiou Street to Syntagma Square, where, according to plans, they will remain overnight in front of the Parliament.
The police have been instructed to park in a way that does not completely block Syntagma, while buses carrying protesters will park at Karaiskaki Square and along Syngrou Avenue near the Olympic Columns, after which protesters will proceed on foot toward the Parliament.
It should be noted that the first gathering, organized by PAME, is scheduled for 13:00 at Syntagma. The main rally of farmers’ and livestock associations is planned for 16:00 in front of the Parliament, where the tractors will be parked. Additional support will come from ADEDY, student associations, and other groups.
Additionally, according to the Attica Police Headquarters (GADA), following an online call, various collectives are expected to gather at Karaiskaki Square at 13:00. Taxi drivers’ associations have announced that, in support of the farmers, they will park along Athinon Avenue during the tractors’ passage.
Finally, various collectives have planned further gatherings at Syntagma in the afternoon at 18:00 and 19:00.
It is reminded that, according to a GADA announcement, due to the planned protests and farmers’ mobilizations today, Friday, February 13, 2026, emergency traffic regulations will apply in the wider Athens city center and on major roads in Attica. These will be implemented gradually depending on the prevailing conditions.
Drivers are advised, for their convenience and to avoid additional traffic problems, to avoid driving or parking in the wider central Athens road network and to follow the instructions of traffic officers.
