Athens International Airport (AIA) recorded a 19.3 percent increase in passengers in August compared with the same month last year, reaching 2.15 million, according to data released.

The number of Greek travellers increased by five percent, while the number of foreign tourists increased by 26 percent.

The overall passenger traffic from January to August increased by 22.1 percent, reaching 12.3 million passengers.
