The Ministry of Tourism and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH)are to launch a Tourism Satellite Account in Greece, said Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni during her meeting with HCH President Yiorgos Tsakiris. The new Tourism Satellite Account will offer accurate data for inbound and outbout tourism in Greece and monitor and evaluate tourism policies by giving the latest statistics.
The minister also referred to the draft bill on tourism that was tabled on June 27 to strengthen tourism entrepreneurship and resolve various issues in the sector. She said that the bill includes provisions for the efficient running and management of hotel complexes and condo hotels and also introduces fast-track procedures for hotels, campsites and lodgings to be given the special operational seal.
“The new draft bill aims for the upgrade of the Tourism Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), to simplify procedures for tourism accommodation and develop entrepreneurship,” she said
