The talks are scheduled for Jan. 23 in Astana

Newsroom January 16 02:19

Syrian rebel groups have announced that they have decided to attend the peace talks backed by Russia and Turkey in Astana, Kazakhstan.

President Bashar al-Assad’s, Russian backed recent victories, especially at the districts of eastern Aleppo set the new diplomatic effort in motion.

The Russian attempt was joined with by Turkey and for the first time it seems that there might be a reasonable chance for peace in the area.

What has not being clarified, though, is whether the US will be invited to the talks or not. Until now, there are contradicting information leaking from various sources.
