Hot pursuit: Car rams police roadblock after driving on the wrong side of highway! (VIDEO-PHOTOS)

The driver is dead, one more person is injured

Newsroom March 5 10:24

A serious incident took place on early Monday morning when a car was spotted driving on the wrong side of the Athens-Lamia highway! A hot pursuit followed as the driver avoided the police blocks and went to the streets, breaking the toll bars for more than 160 kilometers.

Eventually, the police set a roadblock with two police cars and one big truck on the toll of Tragana, where the car drove straight at them at full speed. The man was seriously injured, and a little later he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the truck, who was outside his vehicle, was also injured from fragments that scattered all around the roadblock.

Information report that the car had a broken windshield and that the driver was in a frantic condition, not obeying the orders of the police. At some point, as the patrol cars attempted to approach the side with his vehicle, he tried to push them off the road while he was also throwing objects -probably documents- out of his window.

The driver passed through the tolls of Mavromandila and the Holy Trinity on the wrong side of the highway without stopping.

At Thermopylae, the pursued driver stopped for a while and everything seemed to indicate that the pursuit was over, but when he was approached, he drove off again.
