The summer is not over yet for most people, but The Guardian published an article advising readers to visit Greece in autumn and especially the Pelion peninsula.

As the article mentions “Unlike the Greek islands, which shut up shop in September, the beautiful Pelion peninsula on the mainland has year-round appeal”.

The journalist argues that “Autumn is the perfect time to explore the stone-built villages on the slopes of Mount Pelion” and stay at lovely boutique hotels while tasting “authentic Greek home-cooking” at the traditional tavernas.

The article gives some tips on what to do while being at Pelion, including visiting Makrinitsa and Tsagarada with its “1,000-year-old plane tree and lovely shady squares”, take the “‘trenaki Pelion’, a narrow-gauge steam train which chugs between Ano Lehonia and Milies” or even swim in the lovely beaches, such as Platanias and enjoy kayaking.
