Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Education Minister Andreas Loverdos held a meeting on Monday to discuss organizational and institutional issues regarding the new educational program. They released a joint statement announcing their plans to cooperate to launch an undergraduate tourism program for students from abroad.
Deans of the universities of Crete and the Aegean, Evripidis Stefanou and Paris Tsartas, were present at the meeting. Kefalogianni highlighted the dynamics of Greek tourism and the need to develop university-level studies at major tourist destinations.
Further details of the undergraduate tourism program are to be announced after a meeting between the two ministers scheduled for September.
