According to Sky News, the two men discussed the current situation and Russia’s demands in order to end the war. It is not the first time the two have spoken since again during the week they had talked on the phone with French sources reporting that there was nothing encouraging regarding the possibility of ending the conflict.

The communication came after Putin had a conversation today with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the Turkish president urged him to declare a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin told his Turkish counterpart that Kyiv must agree to his demands if fighting is to end, lowering hopes for progress at the third round of Ukraine-Russia talks that could happen as soon as Monday but isn’t yet confirmed.
