The Supreme Court of Cassation ruled that their establishment is deemed necessary for reasons of public interest

The Council of State (CoS), Greece’s Supreme Administrative Court ruled that the law of the Ministry of Education regarding the operation and presence of security units on University campuses was constitutional.

In the decision, the Supreme Court of Cassation ruled that their establishment is deemed necessary for reasons of public interest and in particular in the protection of public order and security, but also to safeguard and guarantee the unimpeded exercise of academic freedom.
