Bizarre! Burglar suffers diabetic shock while escaping crime scene in Nafplion

He and his accomplice were both arrested

Newsroom September 5 09:14

If you decide to break into a home and plan on escaping in a hurry then maybe you should first take a physical check-up. A burglar in the quaint town of Nafplion in the Peloponnese apparently forgot to take his yearly check-up and suffered a diabetic shock while trying to run from his victim who was pursuing him in the street in his underwear.

The bizarre incident unfolded early on Saturday morning in the first-floor house on 25th Martiou street in Pronoia Nafplio.

According to what is reported by argolikeseidhseis.gr, two perpetrators, without concealing their features, broke into the house and at gunpoint immobilised the three family members, the two parents and their young son, tying their hands. They then took money and valuables from the house.

The couple started shouting for help, rousing the neighborhood who came out onto the balconies, while the family’s son in his underwear and with his hands tied behind his back began to pursue them, shouting burglary.

The police received a barrage of calls from neighbours and people who saw the two perpetrators running on their street and the young man chasing them. The perpetrators of the break-in crossed the area of Pronoia and Synoikismus and stopped at the traffic lights of Argos Street with X. Trikoupi when one of them collapsed from a diabetic shock.

Cleaning workers of the Municipality of Nafplio were at the scene who, without knowing what exactly had happened, rushed to help the perpetrator who had fallen to the ground, informing the Argolis ambulance services.

The other man had managed to dispose of the weapon throwing it into the trash bin at the scene, while at the same time a DIAS (motorised police) team arrived and finally arrested the burglars and located the weapon.
