Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni sent out a message to Greek expatriates on the occasion of her upcoming visit to Australia and called on Australians to visit Greece this year.
The minister, who is visiting Australia as of Monday, will have meetings with representatives of the Diaspora.
Greece and Australia are also expected to sign a memorandum of cooperation on the youth mobilization.
Mrs Kefalogianni said that “The country is recovering,” and added that “Tourism has become a key driver for Greece’s economic growth. With 18 million tourists in 2013, we are optimistic that this year’s tourist season will be even better. Greece is a safe and hospitable country for all its visitors. It is a high level tourist destination.”
It should be also noted that Australian tourists in Greece spend more per person compared to other foreign visitors.
