Impressive images from military exercise of Hellenic Navy – See videos and photos

Frigates, submarines, surveillance ships, and Air Force aircraft took part in exercise "Longhi"

Newsroom October 4 12:07

Impressive images from the military exercise carried out in the framework of the national exercises “Coast Reconnaissance” and “LOCHI 3/22” which were held from Thursday (22/09) to Wednesday (28/09) were released by the Hellenic Navy.

This training took place in the maritime area of the Northern, Central, and Eastern Aegean as well as in the Myrtle Sea, while units of the Commands of Frigates, Submarines, Speed Boats, Surveillance Vessels, Naval Aviation, Underwater Disaster Units, as well as Air Force aircraft participated in the exercises.

As stated in the announcement of the Navy, “during the exercises, advanced surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, primary and secondary weapons fires, anti-aircraft warfare exercises with the participation of PA aircraft, administrative control (DM), communications, as well as multiple countermeasures exercises were carried out to deter possible threats ‘.

“The purpose of these exercises is to maintain and further increase the operational readiness, interoperability, and combat capability of the units of the Fleet Headquarters,” concludes the announcement of the Navy.

The mobilisation of the warships of the Fleet was planned in the framework of the exercise but it is clear it is also directly linked to the increase in tension in Greek-Turkish relations.

As protothema.gr had written, the Greek Navy is already drawing up plans to deal with a possible attempt by Turkey to create a fait accompli in the SE Mediterranean, utilising in this direction the exit of the Turkish research vessel to the Mediterranean. The Orus Reis, having completed scheduled maintenance and the upgrade of its software has recently been in the process of testing its systems in the Bosphorus sea area.
