Turkey accuses Greece of violating International Law and slander on the 92 abused immigrants

Greece is taking the incident with the 92 abused immigrants to the UN

Newsroom October 17 03:19

In its latest attack against Greece and distortion of current affairs, Ankara accused Greece’s stance on the immigration crisis as “shameless”. Spearheaded by foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkey went so far as to say that the photos of the 92 naked immigrants in Evros as ‘fake news’.

Cavusoglu launched an attack against Athens claiming the following “It is known that it [Athens] violates International Law and slanders Turkey.”

History was once again invoked by the Turkish foreign minister to “build” his grandiose vision.

“Turkey has once again become the centre of international geopolitical interest, as has been the case throughout history. We are in a pivotal position where we connect East to West, North to South, in energy, trade, and transportation,” Cavusoglu said.

He also argued that the importance of the Turkish region for global stability and prosperity has increased amid ongoing global crises while emphasising that Ankara must present a “strong vision for the future”.

“The way to transform our region into an area of stability while increasing the prosperity of our nations is by strengthening our unity. The way to strengthen our unity is to take the right steps at the right time with courage,” he further asserted.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mr. Notis Mitarakis, harshly criticised Turkey for the shocking incident with the rescue of 92 migrants in Evros by the Greek authorities, who found them naked and abused.

Speaking to SKAI on Monday morning, Mitarakis pointed out that “yet another sad episode was “written” in Evros, with Turkey in the leading role, again exploiting immigrants, this time 92 people, who were found naked and injured in the Evros”.

Continuing, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum noted that he has requested and will see the president of the United Nations General Assembly next Monday and has already informed the UN and the European Commission. As he characteristically said, he will make a round of contacts, and “I will show the photos, while we have other material, such as videos”.
