Weather: The week starts and ends with rain: Which areas will be affected

Rain and thunderstorms, possibly locally strong, are expected from early this afternoon in Epirus and northern Ionian (Corfu – Paxi area), and from the evening in western Central Greece and central Macedonia.

Initially, scattered clouds are expected, denser in places in the eastern and northeastern mainland and in the Aegean. However, cloud cover will develop from the morning, initially in the northwest parts of the country, gradually spreading to all mainland areas, the Ionian, and the northern Aegean. Rain and sporadic thunderstorms are expected from the afternoon in the northwest mainland and northern Ionian, which until the evening will also affect Central and Western Macedonia, Epirus, Western and Northern Thessaly, Western Central Greece, and the Ionian. Dust concentrations in the atmosphere will be relatively high, especially in the west.

Temperatures in Western Macedonia will range from 3 to 15 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 4 to 19, in Thessaly from 6 to 18, in Epirus from 8 to 21, in Central Greece from 8 to 20, in Peloponnese from 5 to 23, in the Ionian Islands from 13 to 17, in the islands of the Northern and Eastern Aegean from 7 to 20, in the Cyclades from 7 to 19, in the Dodecanese from 8 to 19, and in Crete from 7 to 21 degrees Celsius.

Winds in the Aegean will blow from southerly directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort, and from midday at 5 to 7 Beaufort. In the Ionian, winds will blow from southerly directions at 6 to 8 Beaufort, and from the afternoon at 5 to 7 Beaufort.

According to the director of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, Thodoris Kolydas, the weather will be rainy throughout the week with instability receding over the weekend.
