Greece is among the countries with one of the highest average numbers of sexual partners

The cultural and religious norms of each country can have a significant impact, according to the research - The list is full of surprises

Newsroom April 8 11:20

Turkish citizens say they have the highest average number of sexual partners in their lifetime, according to a global analysis of sexual habits. The average Turk has slept with more than 14 people, according to the World Population Review.

“The average number of sexual partners can vary significantly from country to country, as cultural norms can have a significant impact on the number of people someone has sex with,” the website stated.

Turkey’s top position may surprise some, given that more than 99% of its population is Muslim, and the country is widely considered to have traditional views on sex and relationships.

However, the list was full of surprises. (See the full list HERE)

Countries believed to have more liberal views on sex, such as Brazil and France, ranked surprisingly low on the list. The average Brazilian has had sex with 9 people, placing the nation at 25th. France, meanwhile, was far from being amorous, as it ranked 29th. Citizens of this country have slept with an average of 8.1 people.

After Turkey, Australia takes the second position on the list of amorous countries, with the average Australian having sex with more than 13 people during their lifetime.

Neighboring New Zealand came in third, followed by Iceland and South Africa.

The United States ranked 13th, with the World Population Review stating that Americans have an average of 10.7 sexual partners over the years, as do Canadians. However, the average number of sexual partners someone has in the US can vary significantly from state to state, based on religious preferences. For example, residents of Louisiana report an average of 15.7 sexual partners. In comparison, residents of Utah, 62% of whom belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, report an average of 2.6 sexual partners.

The age at which someone loses their virginity can also affect the number of sexual partners they have. In the United States, people tend to lose their virginity at the age of 17, on average.
