Episode and lawsuit against Beos in the municipal council – I voluntarily went to the police department, signed, and left

Video from the tumultuous municipal council - Municipal councilor filed a lawsuit - Beos was released on bail

Newsroom April 10 11:44

A lawsuit against Achilles Beos was filed by municipal councilor Kostas Gargalas regarding a threat. The issue arose yesterday during the meeting of the municipal council, when councilor Kostas Gargalas at the Volos municipal council was present and following the incident of physical violence by resigned municipal councilor Vasilis Zachilas, was verbally attacked by the mayor, who told him “use your brain.”

This phrase by Achilles Beos was perceived as a threat against Kostas Gargalas not only by the municipal councilors, but also because it was judged that in a way it rewarded previous condemnable behavior of Vasilis Zachilas.

The tension between Beos and Gargalas:

“Kostas Gargalas deemed that with the phrase ‘use your brain,’ that he and his family were threatened, which is why he filed a lawsuit against the mayor.

Subsequently, Mayor Achilles Beos voluntarily went to the police station, as he explained in his statement:”

“Regarding the alleged arrest following a lawsuit filed against me by the well-known Gargalas, I note the following:

It is an indisputable right of every citizen to file a lawsuit for whatever reason they deem necessary, assuming, of course, the corresponding responsibilities. However, it is also a fundamental obligation of the Prosecution Authorities to assess and judge the seriousness of each lawsuit before proceeding with any procedure.

In my case, there is no issue of arrest. I voluntarily went to the Police Station, signed, and left. Moreover, the process of immediate arrest is not applicable to Mayors.

Those who live by the ‘profession’ of distortion and misinformation can seek the relevant report from the official service officer and get informed, no matter how much the truth bothers them.”

“Extensively, I will address this issue in the press conference I will give tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Volos Town Hall.”
