Five members of the same family in India fell into a huge contaminated well in order to save a cat, however, luck was not on their side.

In their daring attempt to save the animal, all five of them met a tragic death.

As reported by the British newspaper Daily Mail, the men of the Kale family died on Tuesday night after they fell one by one into a well in Wadki village in Maharashtra, India, which was being used as a biowaste pit.

According to local media reports, the cat had fallen into the huge well around 5pm on Tuesday and the men of the family decided to descend into the contaminated well in order to save it.

One of the family members went into the well first before four others followed but eventually all of them were trapped, the British publication comments.

Dead are 65-year-old Manik Kale, his 36-year-old son Sandeep, 53-year-old Anil Kale, Anil’s 28-year-old son and their 36-year-old relative Babasaheb Gaikwad.
