Mitsotakis – Ieronymos plan joint visit to Thebes next Friday

The visit is considered highly symbolic as it comes after the turmoil caused by the bill on civil marriage of same-sex couples

Newsroom April 22 10:15

A highly symbolic joint visit seems to be in the works by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Archbishop Ieronymos in the coming days.

According to information from protothema.gr, the Prime Minister and the Archbishop plan to meet together at a unit of the church’s elderly care unit in Delesi, outside Thebes, next Friday.

The visit comes in the wake of the turmoil in relations between the government and the church following the passage of the bill on equality in civil marriage, while at the Maximou they were particularly pleased to hear the Archbishop’s statement today, who stressed that the Church does not retaliate and in doing so, he cleared priests and believers who attacked government officials and ND MPs in the past few days.
