Eurovision: The Greatest Hits of the Contest

From ABBA to Eleni Foureira, see ten of the songs from the contest that gained worldwide recognition

Newsroom May 4 11:03

With the slogan United Through Music, one of Eurovision’s goals is to spread the cultural elements and the culture of each participating country through songs.

Songs in English, Turkish, Albanian, Spanish, and other languages have become known through the competition and have managed to become worldwide hits, dominating party and club playlists to this day. My Number One by Helena Paparizou, “Shake it” by Sakis Rouvas, and “Secret Combination” by Kalomira are almost always present at any party in Greece. However, these are also the songs that emerged from the music contest and shaped the careers of the performers, still being heard at every entertainment event.
