Weather: Change starting from the west – When will mud rain fall in Attica

How the will weather change today, Thursday, and tomorrow, Friday

Newsroom May 9 10:19

The weather change is starting from the west, specifically the southeast of the Ionian Sea, and will affect the entire country, “without the phenomena being particularly worrying,” as stated by meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis on Thursday morning.

According to the OREN meteorologist, rainfall over the next 48 hours in the south will be accompanied by dust, resulting in mud rain.

Regarding Attica, he mentioned that “temporary mud rain or light rainfall is expected from noon and afternoon,” while for Thessaloniki, he noted that “the weather will become heavier in the afternoon and evening with heavy rains and thunderstorms, especially towards Chalkidiki and areas affected by the north-northwest Aegean.”

From Saturday, with the help of northerly winds, the African dust will begin to weaken, which will be more noticeable in Crete and the Dodecanese. From the coming week, warm air masses are expected from Wednesday to Thursday, concluded Klearchos Marousakis in his weather forecast.

According to the director of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, Thodoris Kolydas, weather changes will bring rain and thunderstorms to most areas.

Intensified phenomena are expected overnight towards Friday in central Macedonia, the Sporades, eastern Thessaly, northern Evia, and northeastern Sterea.

Regarding the dust that will remain over Greece until Tuesday (13/5), Mr. Kolydas notes that “on Thursday and Friday we will have a weak to moderate transport of Saharan dust to our region” and that “the transport of the dust in the lower and middle heights of the troposphere will not be kept suspended in the atmosphere, as in combination with the rains it will be carried away and fall and there will be mud showers mainly in the south.”
