Aphrodite Latinopoulou’s first Comments

Aphrodite Latinopoulou: "I identify with Le Pen, we are both center-right. I have many friends, who are gay and feel shameful about Pride. Some distort what I say, also, I wouldn't attend Kasselakis' wedding, even if invited"

Newsroom June 20 05:27

Aphrodite Latinopoulou spoke with Antonis Schroiter on the protothema.gr show “Proti Lexi” (First Comments) after her election to the European Parliament. The chairperson of “Foni tis Logikis” (Voice of Reason) party shared her views on various topics, including her political alignment, plans for her party, and opinions on social issues.

Reflecting on her election and the party’s future, she emphasized the goal of increasing their vote percentage in national elections and continuing their work in the European Parliament. When asked about her ideological stance, she described herself as center-right and right-wing, and expressed admiration for Marine Le Pen, highlighting their shared focus on national priorities and immigration control.

Latinopoulou criticized the current government under Mitsotakis, stating, “I could never support a party that has betrayed its values and voters.” She affirmed that the Voice of Reason is here to stay, committed to advocating for traditional values such as country, religion, and family.

She voiced her opposition to same-sex marriage, particularly concerning the impact on children, insisting that a child should have the right to say “mother” and “father.” Addressing accusations of being anti-gay, she clarified, “I have many gay friends who feel ashamed of gay pride events,” emphasizing that respectable behavior matters more than sexual orientation.

In a hypothetical scenario where her child came out as gay, she asserted her unconditional love while stressing the importance of respecting social norms. She expressed her desire for her children to start families with Greek partners, aiming to bring Greek children into the world.

Finally, Latinopoulou stated that she would not attend Stefanos Kasselakis’ wedding if invited, citing differing values, and criticized the imposition of certain societal standards, using the example of obese models in sportswear advertisements.

This interview highlights Latinopoulou’s firm stance on maintaining traditional values and her party’s future ambitions within the European political landscape.
