22% jump in June in demand for “Airbnb” in Greece

+18.6% in the 20 largest European markets

Newsroom July 17 04:12

The European summer got off to a strong start in short-term rentals, with the month of June recording an 18.6% year-on-year increase in demand in terms of overnight bookings, reaching 44.5 million in the top 20 markets in Europe. Among these is of course Greece, which also recorded a significant increase in demand in June, higher than the European average at +22%.

A key feature of this June is the fact that all 20 major European markets recorded double-digit year-on-year growth, with the Scandinavian countries taking the lead and performing the best in terms of overnight bookings, but not in terms of occupancy and revenue due to the large increase in accommodation supply.

The data on the performance and trends in short-term rentals is derived from analysis by AirDNA, the well-known short-term rental data analytics company with data from the Airbnb and VRBO platforms. Pan-European, according to the same data, available listings reached 3.8 million in total, up 14.8% year-on-year, while occupancy was at 59% in June, up 1.4%. The average price per night (ADR) in Europe was at €167 in June, in line with June 2023 prices.
