No Active Fronts in the Fire in Evia – Battling Scattered Hotspots

13 aerial units have been operating since morning - The battle with the flames is focused in Kamari - Kikilias has been in the area since yesterday

Newsroom August 1 08:05

Evia is no longer facing an active firefront, but the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon continues its destructive path today. There are numerous scattered hotspots, raising significant concerns about potential flare-ups.

More than 183 firefighters and eight ground units with 52 vehicles are fighting the active hotspots. Since morning, nine aircraft and four helicopters have been conducting water drops from the air.

The most severe problem is located in the Kamari area.

It’s worth noting that the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, has been on the island since yesterday.

Coordination of all civil protection forces is being managed from the Mobile Operational Center OLYMPOS.

Until late last night, three messages were issued by the 112 emergency line: the first was an informational alert, the second ordered the evacuation of residents from Afrati, and the third called for the evacuation of the small settlements Kamari, Kalyvia, and Agios Georgios Armas towards Chalkida.
