Armata 2024: Rich program of events announced by the Municipality of Spetses

From Friday, August 30th to Sunday, September 8th

Newsroom August 30 06:30

The Municipality of Spetses has announced an outstanding and content-rich program of commemorative and cultural events for Armata 2024, which will take place on the historic island from Friday, August 30th to Sunday, September 8th, the day of the heroic Battle of Spetses, which occurred on September 8, 1822.

The events kick off on Friday, August 30th, with a major concert by Giannis Koutras in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas, a symbol of the Spetses Revolution.

The following days will feature grand services and solemn ceremonies, wreath-laying events, and wonderful commemorative and cultural activities for all ages, with the participation of local organizations.

The Sacred Icon of Panagia Armata will be carried in a sea procession on Thursday, September 5th.

That same evening at the Hatzigiannis Mexis Museum, there will be theatrical monologues titled “Music Meets Theater,” performed by Giannis Vouros and Panagiota Vlandi.

A series of events will be held in the famous pebble courtyard of the Bouboulina Museum, as well as the pioneering event by the Spetses Women’s Association, “The Celebration of Memory,” honoring the island’s veteran shipbuilders.

A concert in the large seaside Poseidon Square will be held on Friday, September 6th, featuring Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Eleonora Zouganeli.
