New Trump assassination attempt: The suspect arrested has been identified

The alleged shooter had made donations to Democrats since 2019

Newsroom September 16 02:09

The individual detained in connection with the “attempted assassination” of Donald Trump, as characterized by the FBI, has been identified.

It is 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Ruth. Ruth failed to shoot the former president, and Trump was unharmed during the incident.

Law enforcement officials in Palm Beach, Florida, were able to locate the suspect after a witness saw him “emerging from bushes.” After searching the area, authorities found an AK-47 rifle with a scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera in the bushes.

The witness took a photo of the vehicle after seeing the suspect get into a black Nissan.

The police alerted the nearby Martin County Sheriff’s Office, which located the vehicle and arrested the suspect.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder stated that the suspect remained calm during his arrest.

According to the New York Post, the alleged shooter at Trump’s golf course had made donations to Democratic candidates and causes since 2019.

Between September 2019 and March 2020, Ruth, a resident of Hawaii, contributed more than $140 to the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue, as shown by Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

According to U.S. media, Ryan Wesley Ruth, in an interview with Newsweek Romania in 2022, claimed to have helped recruit foreign volunteers to fight for Ukraine.
